Naksan Park

I feel like Seoul is gradually becoming a city of art; beautiful murals are found everywhere throughout Seoul including Hongdae, where Trick Eye Museum is located at. But out of all, "Naksan Park" (낙산공원) became a trend place for murals and its trails.

As you follow the trails of Naksan Park, you'll be able to see opened view that is kind of hard to see in Seoul. This place sure has beautiful view of entire Seoul, including during the day where everything looks like toys, beautiful and amazing sunset, and the night views.

But out of all, Naksan Park's must see items are the murals hidden all over the park.

Naksan Park still have forms of Seoul before it was developed, but with the flower and sun are drawn on the wall, the village in the park turns into most gorgeous village.

With the murals, let's return to the innocence of childhood. You can take pictures with the murals just like what Trick Eye Museum does!

And the night view that I talked about earlier of this posting. It's much pleasant since it's not crowded as Namsan Park :P

Naksan Park is also located near Hyehwa Station (혜화역) line 4. Just take exit 2 at Hyehwa Station and after you pass Marronnier Park (마로니에공원), turn left - then Naksan Park trail starts :) To see how to get to Hyehwa Station, please click our previous posting on Daehak-ro

Daehak-ro

Near Hongdae, there is also a place where great amount of artists are gathered together.  It is "Daehak-ro" (대학로) and this place is known for plays from little theaters. But not only the play, they also have comedies or other smaller scaled concerts :) And for the positive side of this is that you can encounter the high quality cultural art, and the sitting is very close with the stage so you can even hear their breathes!

Daehak-ro has many little theaters, so you can find the play or concert or whatever you want to see; but also they have many place to eat. Since Daehak-ro was and still is the center of cultural art for long long time, there are restaurants with long history. Have a date with your loved one with a play then a restaurant - what a perfect date course!

Also Marronnier Park is near by. Marronnier Park is like a symbol of Daehak-ro. The park is included with children's playground, outdoor stage, pond, fountain, convenient stores, etc. For the outdoor stage, mainly many amateur singers are performing their music.

Marronnier Park was also featured in <MBC We Got Married>, where Jo Jeongchi and Jung In met for first time in from the show.

You can also see the street artists often in the area :)

Daehak-ro is located in subway line 4 Hyehwa Station (혜화역). So take subway at line 2 (green line) at Hongik Univ. Station (홍대입구역), then transfer to line 4 (light blue line) at Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (동대문역사문화공원역). Off at Hyehwa Station (혜화역) then exit 1. Then you'll see Daehak-ro.

So how about a walk in Marronnier Park and see some interesting performances?
