Garlic Rice Cake ( 마늘 떡볶이 ttokboki)

If you are a garlic-lover, here is a Korean rice cake (Tteobokki 떡볶이) restaurant you should try named Real 미스테리 = Real Mystery.

In this restaurant, there is one must-eat food you should order ~ a garlic rice cake with a
huge amount of mashed garlic, so the depth of garlic flavor is absolutely enough for the garlic-lover. Moreover, there are two sizes of the garlic rice cake you can choose, normal one as other restaurant, another is much longer size like a rice cake noodle.

If you feel tired of just eating the garlic rice cake only, there are others menu for you. They are kimbap, fried-snack, pork chop and Korean blood sausage. Your tongue may get a
surprise by those snacks.

How to get here?

Game Center @ Hongdae

Today, I would like to let you know another face/side of hongdae where you will have fun with your friends, lover, or kids and will recall your childhood memories (maybe for people from Asian countries).

When you want to continue your joy and fun after visiting Trick Eye 3D Museum, here is a place for you which is a 3-storey game center at Hongdae. The game center is located at the end of Eoulmadang-ro (어울마당로) toward Hapjeong area, next to car park.

It occupies three levels of a whole building, so I'm sure that there are enough arcades for you, and it won’t be too crowded inside.

As you may have found many claw machines sitting in front of convenient stores in Korea, you would know how much Korean keen on a game of catching doll or other items/gifts with claw machines. Hence, you won’t be shocked to see one level of the game center is filled with lots of claw machines when you visit there.

Don’t worry $$$ since it just costs 500won ~ 1000won per one try. You won’t go broke on a premise of not being addicted to the games…lol!!

Korean Sweet Pancake (호떡 Hotteok)

Woohoo! Winter is here finally! The sentence you will most hear during the winter is “ah~chuwo (추워)”which means “very cold’.

And the snack Korean will have the most during the winter is “호떡 Hotteok” (Sweet Pancake), it is the most popular winter’s snack as well. Sweet Pancake is a flour dough pancake filled with syrup and cinnamon powder inside. And it is fried in high-temperature oil.

Just imagine how great it is when you are holding the hot sweet pancake to warm you up under freezing weather, and full of sweet syrup with flavor of cinnamon inside your mouth.

A cart of sweet pancake is easy to be seen at every corner in Honghae. Here are traditional one and fusion one, come to Hongdae and try it by yourself. Surely, it will be the best winter’s snack to you!

The fusion Sweet Pancake (호떡 Hotteok): Blueberry, Green Tea, Sweet Rice

Here are two Sweet Pancake (호떡 Hotteok) stalls as arrow shown on the map you can try in Hongdae.

Street Food@Hongdea’s Alley

How many kinds of Korean street food do you know? Answer may be Kimbap, tteokbokki(spicy rice cake), soondae(Korean blood sausage), and fried snacks…..which are all traditional food.

Today, I’m going to introduce to you an non-traditional Korean street food at Hongdea.
Here is a street food alley located just right next to Trick Eye Museum’s entrance.
I actually name  it all-in-one alley. You know why? Since here are various stores at the alley like accessories, clothes and hang-bag shops, restaurants, and food stalls. You can find almost of what you need here.

And here is definitely a paradise for a foodie since a lot of tasty and creative street food can be found here.
You might have visited here before, but let me remind you, the speed of store’s turnover at this alley is faster than our thought. Therefore, surely here is a new surprise waiting for you every month.

Let me show what kinds of street food are there at this moment which may be different from what you saw or searched form internet.

Steak-cube (steak on the top and drink at the bottom, so you can enjoy it while walking)

spicy popcron chicken

Donuts and Drinks
(Recommend you to try Korean style coffee, it may be too sweet to you, probably not your type, but it is surly a great experience in Korea)

Waffle (with different flavor of cream/ jam)

Ice-cream crepe

Hot dog in Korean way

Hongdea Street-Performance

~Hongdea Street-Performance ~

When we talk about things to do in Hongdea, the things come to your mind immediately may be eating, shopping, and clubbing. You may miss out some amazing activities you could join at Hongdea.

I’m here to let you know Hongdea is not only an area for eating, dating, clubbing and etc., but it is also an area for youth chasing their dream.

There are a road nearby Hongik University stn Exit 9 called Pedestrian-Friendly Street(걷고싶은거리) where it is crowded with locals and tourists from around 5pm every night.

There are usually groups of people waiting for the night street performances like singing, dancing and magic show which are performed by youth or in groups.

All of them showcase their talent in public for chasing their dreams. They may not be well-known now, but who knows, some of them may turn into future-to-be K-POP stars someday.

When you come to visit Hongdea, why not stop here and take a few minutes enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, feel the enthusiasm from performers, and show them your encouragement.
