Moonlight Rainbow Fountain

It feels like that I'm always talking about the weather but it's really a big thing right now in Korea since May is not over yet, but the temperature is just high as summer. Normally Koreans consider May as still spring and May wasn't this hot before (in my opinion), but suddenly, BAM! just like summer... :'-( But I found a perfect place that you can overcome this hot weather AND see the great night view in Seoul. The place I'll introduce you today is called "Moonlight Rainbow Fountain" (달빛무지개분수, dalbit moojigae bunsu).

Isn't this beautiful? This fountain, in fact, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest bridge fountain! Just because it's color and how it shows mostly during the night time only, it got a special name of "Moonlight Rainbow". But this fountain doesn't run for all season, it started running on beginning of April 1st for this year, and you can see this beautiful fountain on weekdays (12pm, 8pm, 8:30pm, 9pm) and weekends (12pm, 7:30pm, 8pm, 8:30pm, 9pm) - the running time of this fountain show is about 20 minutes.

For nearby, there are also Banpo Hangang Park (반포한강공원) so you can see the fountain while hanging around at the park! And also the famous Floating Island (세빛섬, sebit seom) is around to see.

There are many way to get to this park but the easiest way is take line 2 (green line) from Hongik Univ. Station, transfer to line 9 (brown line) at Dangsan Station (당산역),  then off at Express Bus Terminal Station (고속터미널역, gosok terminal station) then exit 8-1, walk until you see Kookmin Bank then turn right, walk until you see the park. Or you may take line 3 (orange line) or line 7 (dark green line) and off at Express Bus Terminal Station. The walking distance may be little longer than you may think so if you have lots of things to carry around, just take taxi.

And just letting you know! Some of you questioned why direction always starts from Hongik Univ. Station - that's because it's where Trick Eye Museum is located at! So after visiting us, plan a trip to the hidden places in Seoul :)
